THE CHALLENGE

1. To bring the topic of donating to fight covid in to conversation in a lighthearted way using social media.

2. To make the average person feel like an active part of the fight against COVID19 .

3. To provide a visual and useable token like a badge of honour to showcase your efforts.

THE OUTCOME

AR Filter for Awareness

Sticker GIF in association with UN and Instagram as a CTA to donate.

Our submission takes brighter approach to a very serious problem.

We hoped to leverage the power of social media through Instagram AR filters and stickers to engage wide audiences and get donating into the conversation. We chose to go with a retro game style, with the title as a direct reference to the arcade game Street Fighter, using the classic "Insert Coin To Play" as a reference to donating.

Our principle idea was to get people to 'Donate for Something that is usually Free”.

We were inspired by “donate or download models” that popular softwares like Blender follow.

How might we make a passive role like donation feel like an important, shareable victory?

How might we make this a community-activity?

The filter and the sticker here becomes an unspoken symbol of being an active player of the COVID-19 fight, even in confinement, while also being a ‘call’ for new persons to join by donation, hence the “Donate To Play”.

The hearts represent ‘lives’ as they do in video games, which is a representation of saving lives by donating. We aim to make people feel like an active part of the solution, to empower them to help in small ways while using a medium that has a wide reach.
